Notably, our results indicate that a large proportion of the sigAS events (n = 64) occur in genes commonly dysregulated in both LSCC and RSCC, making alternative splicing a major PTR regulatory mechanism within colon cancers, including genes such as AXIN2 (ES, exon 7), and MXI1 (AP, exon 3) associated with the WNT pathway, and others such as IGF2 (AP, exon5), CXCL12 (AT, exon 5.2), CCL24 (AP, exon 1), and S100A2 (AP exon 3). This evidence concerns the gene S100A2 and colonic neoplasm.
