MMP11 and breast carcinoma: They can be divided into the following subgroups which include collagenase and gelatinase, interstitial lysins, and membrane‐type MMPs.4, 5 MMP‐11 was first discovered by Basset et al. in 1990 and MMP‐11 was considered to play an important role in the development of breast cancer.6 MMP‐11 is different from other proteases of the MMP family in that it is secreted as an active precursor and can only degrade some enzymes (such as serine proteases), and cannot directly hydrolyze extracellular matrix molecules.
