DN patients are characterized by increased plasma concentration of cholesterol, triglycerides, and apolipoprotein B (ApoB)-associated lipoproteins (very-low-density lipoprotein (VLDL), intermediate-density lipoprotein (IDL), low-density lipoprotein (LDL), and lipoprotein(a) (Lpa)), along with decreased levels of high-density lipoproteins (HDL) (ApoA-I) [53,54]. This evidence concerns the gene APOB and liver dysplastic nodule.
