To determine whether the increase in CIN phenotypes (i.e., micronuclei) following attenuation of the cGAS/STING pathway is primarily attributable to a decrease in p21 levels, we downregulated p21 by using an RNAi approach, and we counted the number of cells with micronuclei. This evidence concerns the gene STING1 and cervical squamous intraepithelial neoplasia.
