To confirm the implication of 5-LOX in the pathophysiology of cancer, many researchers have applied the use of pharmacological instruments such as 5-LOX inhibitors (Zileuton, ZYflo, ABT-761) [159,160,161], FLAP inhibitors (MK-886) [162,163] or LTA4 hydrolase [164] and LTs antagonists (Zafirlukast and Montelukast) [159,165,166] in blocking cell proliferation and inducing apoptosis in vitro and in vivo. This evidence concerns the gene ALOX5 and cancer.
