Consistent with findings that ALKBH1 is a demethylase for 6mA promoting stem cell differentiation and tumorigenesis [21, 27, 30], our data suggest that elevated ALKBH1 level-reduced 6mA level in leukocytes and VSMCs is involved in hypertension development in human and mouse and rat models. This evidence concerns the gene ALKBH1 and hypertensive disorder.
