Previous studies demonstrated that MSCs differentiate into pericytes or tumor-associated fibroblasts (CAF), secreting vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) [14, 15], interleukin (IL)-8 [16], tumor growth factor (TGF)-β [14, 17], epidermal growth factor (EGF) [15, 18], and platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) [14, 19], ultimately forming a tumor growth supporting microenvironment. This evidence concerns the gene TGFB1 and neoplasm.
