Therefore, we conducted the following study among a cohort of pediatric nephrotic syndrome patients to test the hypotheses that (i) urinary EGF excretion is associated with tubular compartment renal gene expression profiles of children with biopsied MCD and FSGS, and (ii) urinary EGF excretion is associated with cross-sectional and longitudinal kidney function in children with nephrotic syndrome, independent of demographic and clinical markers of disease. Here, EGF is linked to nephrotic syndrome.
