Following adjustment for STI status, MIP-1α (β-coefficient: 1.90; 95% CI: 0.11–3.70; p = 0.038) and IL-8 (β-coefficient: 1.21; 95% CI: 0.13–2.29; p = 0.028) production remained significantly associated with the BV status of the women from whom the isolates were obtained. This evidence concerns the gene CXCL8 and sexually transmitted disease.
