Our results are in agreement with recent studies describing that some flavonoids and resveratrol directly inhibit the expression of HIF‐1α protein in hypoxic cancer cells.38, 43 Mitani et al reported that resveratrol significantly reduced the HIF‐1α protein and VEGF mRNA in hypoxic prostate cancer cells.37 The gene discussed is VEGFA; the disease is prostate carcinoma.
