At the time this study was conducted, the MELD score was used as a measure of change in liver function as it was the most suitable measurement for patients with CP A and B. The recently reported Albumin‐Bilirubin grades22 for the assessment of liver disease in those with mild deterioration of liver function have since been proven to be a more sensitive marker of liver function in the setting of mild dysfunction and in HCC. This evidence concerns the gene NDUFAB1 and hepatocellular carcinoma.
