Considering the potential underlying mechanism, STEAP1 silencing inhibited the expression of nuclear erythroid 2-related factor (NRF2) in colorectal cancer cells (Nakamura et al., 2019) but promoted cell cycle transformation (G-S phase), thereby promoting cell proliferation and enhancing cell invasion, migration, and tumorigenesis in nude mice. Here, STEAP1 is linked to colorectal cancer.
