Inhibition of RelA prevents dopaminergic neuron loss in a 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP)-mouse model of PD, and downregulation of RelA protects neurons from 1-methyl-4-phenylpyridinium (MPP+) toxicity, suggesting that RelA upregulation, may play a role in dopaminergic neuron degeneration (Ghosh et al., 2007). Here, RELA is linked to Parkinson disease.
