Therefore, targeting miRNAs, such as miR-145-5p, might be an important strategy for upregulating CFTR. We have elsewhere published data supporting the use of miR-145-5p targeting in CF, based on an antisense PNA able to enhance expression of the CFTR gene, analyzed at the mRNA (RT-qPCR) and protein (Western blotting) levels [33,34]. The gene discussed is CFTR; the disease is cystic fibrosis.
