The localization of Nanog may be prostate cancer cell type-dependent; prostate cancer cell lines DU145 and PC3 cells show strong nuclear and some cytoplasmic Nanog staining; however, these cell lines are derived from prostate cancer metastases to brain and bone, offering the possibility that they represent a more differentiated cell type or malignant phenotype than iPS87 cells [29–31]. This evidence concerns the gene NANOG and prostate carcinoma.
