To investigate the role of JNK1 and JNK2, one group expressed wild type (WT) and C116S JNK1/2 mutants in melanoma cell lines, and it was found that JNK inhibition with the small molecule agent JNK-IN-8 enhanced proliferation and invasion in cell culture and subcutaneous xenografts expressing JNK2(C116S) mutant [170]. This evidence concerns the gene MAPK9 and melanoma.
