Rhodus et al. reported significantly higher levels of IL-1α, IL-6, IL-8, and TNF-α in OSCC patients as compared to patients with oral lichen planus with dysplasia, whereas Punyani and Sathavane stated markedly higher levels of IL-8 in the OSCC group in comparison with patients with oral leukoplakia, but only in five of twelve cases mild dysplasia were described [20,45,52]. This evidence concerns the gene CXCL8 and oral lichen planus.
