After multivariable analysis of covariance adjusted for age, BMI, and depression severity, the authors documented that MDD patients with suicidal ideation presented lower levels of monocyte chemoattractant protein-1/chemokine C-C motif ligand 2 (MCP-1/CCL2) and normal T-cell expressed and secreted (RANTES/C-C motif ligand 5 CCL5 or RANTES/CCL5) and higher levels of Eotaxin/C-C motif chemokine 11 (CCL11) when compared to healthy controls. Here, CCL5 is linked to major depressive disorder.
