PCSK9 and nasopharyngeal carcinoma: This gene is expressed almost 8-fold higher in the anterior lobules of both Npc1+/+ and Npc1-/- cerebella compared to lobule X (Supplemental Figure S1), suggesting a possible functional and lobule specific role for PCSK9 in the general physiology of the cerebellum and possibly of Purkinje neuron health during NPC disease progression.
