NF1 and neurofibromatosis type 1: As reported, ITMs are commonly associated with NF-1.[11] NF-1, also known as von Recklinghausen's disease, is an autosomal-dominant disease caused by genetic mutations of the NF-1 gene located on chromosome 17q11.2.[12] According to literature, about 69% of thoracic meningoceles are associated with NF-1.[13]
