After the ictus of brain ischemic attack, cytosolic double‐stranded DNA (dsDNA) released by necrotic neuronal cells is a potential damage‐associated molecular pattern (DAMP), the underlying mechanisms of brain inflammation on dsDNA recognition by nucleic acid‐sensing cyclic GMP‐AMP (cGAMP) synthase (cGAS) following stroke have not been explored to date. The gene discussed is CGAS; the disease is stroke disorder.
