These results are in agreement with the recent identification of the TERT hypermethylation oncologic region, a 433‐bp genomic region located −159 to −591 bp upstream the TSS (Castelo‐Branco et al., 2016; Leao et al., 2019; Lee et al., 2019), as a potential biomarker in several cancers.
