The peptide G region (Fig. 7A, yellow box, amino acids 161 to 180 [aa 161–180]) and direct binding site (Fig. 7A, orange box, aa 205–229) are bound by laminin and the prion protein (71, –, 75), whereas a discrete region of the LamR C terminus (Fig. 7A, green box, aa 263–282) is the attachment site for several meningitis-causing bacterial pathogens (51).
