SCG2 and nervous system disorder: The strongest increase in synthesis was observed for Secretogranin-2 (Sgc2), a secretory protein that is released into the synaptic cleft in a calcium-dependent manner (Fischer-Colbrie et al., 1995) and is implicated in several neurological diseases (Agneter et al., 1995; Kandlhofer et al., 2000; Kaufmann et al., 1998; Lechner et al., 2004; Mahata et al., 1992; Medhurst et al., 2001).
