Figure 5A shows that when cells were treated with 40 μM galangin for 8 h, caspase-3/7 enzymatic activities were maximally increased to 1.48 ± 0.06-fold and 2.35 ± 0.20-fold in A2780/CP70 and OVCAR-3 cells, respectively, as compared with controls. Figure 5B shows that galangin significantly up-regulated the levels of cleaved caspase-3, caspase-7 and PARP-1, and down-regulated the levels of procaspase-3 and procaspase-7 in the two ovarian cancer cell lines. This evidence concerns the gene PARP1 and ovarian cancer.
