PARP1 and melanoma: A genome-wide association study (GWAS) in Australian and European populations found that the single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) rs3219090 within PARP1 is a melanoma susceptibility locus 9, and subsequent studies demonstrated that the rs3219090 risk allele is correlated with higher expression levels of PARP1 mRNA but longer melanoma-specific survival 10,11.
