The loss of β-catenin Y654 phosphorylation by BCR-ABL1 leads to the binding between β-catenin, and its multi-protein “destruction complex”, that includes the tumor suppressors Axin1 [21] Axin1 carries binding sites for CK1 and GSK-3β and coordinates the whole phosphorylation events, involving β-catenin proteolysis by the 26S degradation machinery and acts as a tumor suppressor in hepatocellular carcinoma [21,22]. The gene discussed is GSK3B; the disease is hepatocellular carcinoma.
