After adjusting for age, body mass index, sex, hypertension, type 2 diabetes mellitus, smoking, low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol and estimated glomerular filtration rate, H-FABP (≥4.226 ng/mL) was the best predictor for all-cause mortality (HR 2.68, 95% CI 1.28–5,62, p = 0.009) and CV death (HR 6.84, 95% CI 1.89–22.14, p = 0.003), followed by NT-proBNP (≥229.6 pg/mL), and hsCK-MB (Fig. 3a,b). The gene discussed is NPPB; the disease is Hypertension.
