EGFR and non-small cell lung carcinoma: A new member of the family of kinase inhibitors is nazartinib (figure 1; NAZ; EGF816), a third-generation epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) developed by Novartis Oncology that is being clinically tested for the treatment of solid malignancies, with a focus on non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) [4–6].
