A20 (also known as tumor necrosis factor-α-induced protein 3 or TNFAIP3) is a pleiotropically expressed ubiquitin editing enzyme capable of interfering with NF-κB, interferon regulatory factor (IRF) and c-jun N-terminal (JNK) signaling cascades, all of which are being implicated with periodontal disease pathogenesis (4, 5). This evidence concerns the gene TNFAIP3 and periodontal disorder.
