Due to variability in cardiac imaging recommendations and limited supporting evidence, some patients may undergo unnecessary cardiac imaging (e.g., healthy women with breast cancer receiving adjuvant trastuzumab) while others may not have adequate cardiac imaging (e.g., strong history of heart disease and metastatic breast cancer on HER2-targeted therapy indefinitely) to prevent cardiovascular decompensation. This evidence concerns the gene ERBB2 and breast carcinoma.
