Mutations in the ABCA4 gene are found in patients with Stargardt macular dystrophy (STGD1), cone‐rod dystrophy and recessive retinitis pigmentosa, and variants in ABCA4 increased susceptibility to age‐related macular degeneration (AMD).4 This evidence concerns the gene ABCA4 and Posterior column ataxia - retinitis pigmentosa.
