Ablation of L-FABP gene impaired the ability of the liver to efficiently import and transfer fatty acids into glycerolipid biosynthesis resulting in a reduction of hepatic TG accumulation, and protected against diet-induced obesity and hepatic steatosis (Newberry et al., 2006; Martin et al., 2009, 2017; Mukai et al., 2017). This evidence concerns the gene FABP1 and fatty liver disease.
