RAN and colorectal carcinoma: We previously developed a CRC-specific monoclonal antibody, MC3, and further identified thioredoxin-like protein 2 (Txl-2) as its target.3 We also found that elevated Txl-2 was strongly correlated with histological grade and CRC patient prognosis and demonstrated that the overexpression of Txl-2 promoted cell invasion and metastasis through its interaction with the GTPase Ran.4 However, the roles and underlying mechanisms of Ran in the initiation and metastasis of CRC remain elusive.
