From these studies it emerged that the expression in dPdxk1 flies of four PDXK variants (three—D87H, V128I and H246Q—listed in databases, and one—A243G—found in a genetic screening in patients with diabetes) was unable to rescue CABs, hyperglycaemia and AGE accumulation, differently from PDXK wild-type protein. The gene discussed is PDXK; the disease is diabetes mellitus.
