Furthermore, since the T231 mutation causes a potent neurotoxic conformation called cis-p-Tau (or ‘Cistauosis’, as a result of phosphorylation of tau at T231) [22,61,62], TFEB’s role in significantly reducing T231D/S235D levels supports the therapeutic potential of targeting TFEB against tauopathies.
