FGFR1 gene amplification is one of the most frequent occurring potentially targetable gene alterations in SQCLC and SCLC with prevalence of 20% and 6%, respectively.7, 16, 17, 18, 19 Earlier studies have revealed comparable prevalence but inconclusive impact of FGFR1 amplification on patients' survival.20, 21, 22, 23 Furthermore, recent clinical studies have used FGFR1 kinase inhibitors in FGFR1‐amplified lung cancer patients diagnosed by fluorescence in situ hybridization analysis (FISH). Here, FGFR1 is linked to lung cancer.
