ECE2, encoding for endothelin‐converting enzyme‐2 27, is a metallopeptidase that has previously been associated with non‐classical production of neuropeptides 34, 35 and removal of intracellular amyloid‐β in Alzheimer's disease 36, 37, and its knockout in mouse leads to deficits in spatial learning and memory acquisition 38. Here, ECE2 is linked to Alzheimer disease.
