The interrelation between proteostasis and oxidative stress was demonstrated in the ischemic stroke mouse model: administration of L-2-oxothiazolidine-4-carboxylic acid (OTC), a precursor of cysteine, upregulates ubiquilin-1 (Ubqln1) and enhances proteostasis and glutathione (GSH) level. This evidence concerns the gene UBQLN1 and ischemic stroke.
