In our recently published pre-clinical study, we showed that treatment of very early orthotopic pancreatic cancer with HGF-c-MET inhibitors plus the chemotherapeutic agent gemcitabine (G) inhibited disease progression.11 However, the translational impact of these findings is limited, since only 15–20% of patients are diagnosed at an early stage of disease. Here, HGF is linked to familial pancreatic carcinoma.
