To this aim, we used an inducible mouse model that enables the expression of a constitutively active Smoothened (SmoM2) in the adult epidermal compartment [29] and presents BCC-like tumors, i.e., the K14CreERT/Rosa-SmoM2-YFP/D2-3xFlag mouse model [30,31,32] (herein referred to as K14Cre-SMO). This evidence concerns the gene SMO and skin basal cell carcinoma.
