Considering that NLRP3 inflammasome activation is upregulated in patients with T2DM and metformin treatment decreases caspase-1 expression, and subsequently reduces IL-1β production in monocyte-derived macrophages from patients with T2DM25, our results should provide a comprehensive understanding of the role of metformin in the treatment of psoriasis patients with T2DM. Here, NLRP3 is linked to type 2 diabetes mellitus.
