SOD2 and cancer: Piscidin-1 treatment enhances mtROS production and decreases SOD2 antioxidant expression, followed by disrupting OXPHOS, decreasing the expression of complex I–V proteins, inducing an imbalance in mitochondrial dynamic proteins (including increased fission proteins and decreased fusion proteins), dissipating MTP (Δψm) and ATP production, and causing cancer cell apoptosis.
