CRP and rheumatoid arthritis: In the current issue Mansour et al. present a population-based study from the largest health provider in Israel assessing the incidence of deep venous thrombosis and pulmonary embolism in 11,782 rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients and 57,973 age- and gender-matched controls.2 In line with previous reports, they demonstrated an increased risk of deep vein thrombosis in RA patients which was associated with high CRP levels.
