Other genomic variants of Amerindian origin harbored by Mestizo population have been identified in various genes, such as SIK3, RORA, LPL, APOA5, ANGPL3, and TIMD4, which are involved in lipid metabolism and have been strongly associated with hypertriglyceridemia, suggesting that populations with an Amerindian background also have a greater genetic susceptibility to this entity [8, 14, 36]. The gene discussed is TIMD4; the disease is hypertriglyceridemia.
