The genes with marked variations in response to TLR4 activation in BME cells identified in the present study including IL1β, IL1α, CCL2, CXCL8, CXCL2 and CXCL3 could be used as potential biomarkers for the selection of effective immunomodulatory treatments for improving the outcome of mastitis through the use of the BME cells in vitro evaluation system. The gene discussed is CCL2; the disease is mastitis.
