Th1 cells (CD3+ CD4+ T-bet+ Foxp3-) are also increased in the PBMC of HCC patients (2.41 ± 1.60), and even more increased in their peritumoral tissue (4.35 ± 1.49) and at the tumor site (12.97 ± 7.39) (Figure 3b and Table 3); showing that the tumor microenvironment is an ongoing inflammatory response. This evidence concerns the gene FOXP3 and hepatocellular carcinoma.
