Aiming at better understanding the mechanisms at play during trans-infection, we previously demonstrated that tetraspanin 7 (TSPAN7), a transmembrane protein, is involved, through positive regulation of actin nucleation, in the transfer of HIV-1 from the dendrites of iMDDCs to activated CD4+ T lymphocytes without HIV-1 internalization (Ménager and Littman, 2016). The gene discussed is TSPAN7; the disease is infection.
