The proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) has been reported to play an important role in the development of atherosclerosis; PCSK9 monoclonal antibodies (mAbs), including evolocumab and alirocumab, have been put into clinical use to decrease circulating PCSK9 [1, 2]. This evidence concerns the gene PCSK9 and atherosclerosis.
