An analysis of the senescence-associated β-galactosidase (β-gal) and histone 3 lysine 9 trimethylation (H3K9me3) mark [34] revealed that MK2 inhibition induced senescence in ~20% of p53wt glioblastoma cells (based on β-gal quantification) and this increased to ~50% upon 10 days temozolomide treatment (Figure 3F–H).
